The best bars and restaurants in Detroit
Detroit City Distillery
2462 Riopelle St, Detroit, MI 48207
Spirits made in Detroit! Detroit City Distillery is a fairly new addition to the Detroit bar scene, but they're doing incredibly well nonetheless! DCD uses locally sourced ingredients to create their own small batch artisinal vodka, gin, and whiskey. The bar itself has a somewhat speakeasy atmosphere that we love, and the bartenders are some of the best in the city. The cocktails here are so amazing, you'll find yourself enjoy spirits you you never have before. Not a fan of gin? Try a gin cocktail at DCD. Not a big whiskey drinker? You will be after a whiskey cocktail here!
201 W 9 Mile Rd, Ferndale, MI 48220
One of Ferndale's best places for a cocktail is The Oakland. This is a classy little lounge with an old-style speakeasy feel that makes it a great choice for date night. The Oakland specializes in the art of craft cocktails; while some bars pour pre-mixed "cocktails," The Oakland takes you back to when mixing a cocktail was a form of art, and you'll absolutely taste the difference in your drinks here! If you want an original, perfectly crafted cocktail then The Oakland is your spot. If you're bar hopping in or around Detroit, head up to Ferndale and check them out!
608 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48226
Detroit has some truly great cocktail lounges, and one of them is definitely the Whisky Parlor, located above the history Grand Trunk Pub! They have a great cocktail menu with signature drinks, some of our favorites being The Detroit and the Just Because cocktails! In addition to great drinks, you can find local entertainment and on Mondays you can enjoy whisky tastings and even cocktail classes! This is a great little hideaway where you can enjoy a cocktail or two any time you're out bar hopping in Detroit, or if you just want a quaint spot for birthday drinks!
2130 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48216
The Sugar House over in Corktown is by far one of the most well known cocktail bars in Detroit. They specialize in craft and classic cocktails, with a unique drink menu that will blow you away! They also have a good rotating selection of beer and wine. This place is rich in history, with a bar that is actually the original from the 1910 saloon. The drink menu rotates seasonally, or weekly, so you'll never get bored of drinking here. We suggest the Gin Branch, the Lapu Lapu, or the Japanese Sour - all amazing cocktails that you can't find anywhere else!
4421 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201
The Ghost Bar is very well known in Detroit. Located inside The Whitney, Ghost Bar is known for being a bit haunted! If you're fan of ghosts and booze, then you'll enjoy the rich history of Ghost Bar and The Whitney. But even without the great stories, Ghost Bar is worth a visit; the old Victorian vibe and the great drinks always seem to give a night out on the town a little extra something. The drinks are insane - The Classic Drip and the Death in the Afternoon cocktails will knock you off your feet! Be sure to check out Ghost Bar while you explore Detroit!
Two James Spirits
2445 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48216
Two James Spirits is a great Detroit bar with a long history - they were the first licensed distillery in Detroit after Prohibition! Their cocktails are made with spirits distilled on site. There is no beer or wine at Two James, only amazing cocktails! They mix them up the right way at Two James - from scratch, just like any classic cocktail bar should! Two James is one of our favorites, and we definitely recommend you make them one of your stops if you're spending a night out in or around Detroit! They're definitely worth a visit!
